Thirteen Year 12 students have just returned from a highly successful pilgrimage to the world famous Marian shrine of Lourdes in the South of France. The students faced a 24 hour journey overland by coach, ferry and overnight train to reach the tiny French town which lies in the foothills of the Pyrenees. During their week in Lourdes they devoted their time to caring for the sick, elderly and handicapped and attending daily services. The Hagley students were given the honour of reading, serving and officiating at several major celebrations, including the Opening Mass, the International Mass and the Torchlight Procession. Although it was a very demanding and exhausting week, all the pilgrims agreed that they had been through a life-changing experience, through which they had learned a huge amount about themselves, about other people and about their faith. On Monday 29th June the students will be sharing some of their experiences with the new Sixth Form intake on Induction Day.
